Early Life

Patricia Noëlle Kaas was born on December 5, 1966, in Forbach, Lorraine, France, near the German border. Growing up in a bilingual household, she was the youngest of her family, with her father Joseph Kaas being a miner and her mother Irmgard a German from Saar. Until the age of six, she spoke only Lorraine Franconian. Encouraged by her mother to pursue singing, Kaas began performing at a young age, singing songs by popular artists like Sylvie Vartan and Dalida. Her first significant success came when she won a pop song contest, which set her on the path to a professional music career.

Career

Kaas took her first steps into the music industry at the age of 13, signing a contract with a club in Saarbrücken. She initially performed under the name Pady Pax with the band Dob's Lady Killers. Despite early setbacks, including a producer's rejection, she persevered and eventually gained recognition. Her breakthrough came with the release of her debut album, "Mademoiselle chante..." which showcased her unique blend of pop, cabaret, jazz, and chanson. Over the years, she released numerous successful albums, including "Je te dis vous" and "Café noir," solidifying her status as a prominent French singer.

In addition to her music career, Kaas ventured into acting, making her film debut in Claude Lelouch's "And now... Ladies and Gentlemen" in 2001. She also contributed to film soundtracks, including the title song for the 1995 adaptation of "Les Misérables." Her artistic versatility has earned her several accolades, including the Victoires de la Musique award for Female Artist of the Year.
