Early Life

Rani Johann Petersen, known professionally as Reiley, was born in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands in 1997. He began his musical journey at the tender age of six when he started playing the piano. However, as a teenager, his focus shifted towards gymnastics. It wasn't until a few years later, after participating in a school production, that his passion for music reignited, leading him to take singing lessons. As of February 2023, Reiley was living in London but had temporarily relocated to Copenhagen.

Career

Reiley's career took a significant turn in 2023 when he was announced as a competitor in the Melodi Grand Prix, Denmark's national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. He performed his song "Breaking My Heart" but faced potential disqualification due to a prior performance of the song at a festival in Seoul. Fortunately, he was allowed to compete and ultimately won the competition, making history as the first Faroese artist to represent Denmark at Eurovision. At the contest, he performed in the second semi-final, finishing 14th with 6 points, which unfortunately did not qualify him for the final.

Following Eurovision, Reiley continued to make waves in the music scene. He was scheduled to perform at the Bátastevnan music festival in Vestmanna, Faroe Islands, on May 19, 2023, and released a new single titled "Lovesongs" on May 25, 2023. He also took the stage at the Voxbotn music festival in Tórshavn shortly after, further solidifying his presence in the music industry.
