Early Life

Sabrina Debora Salerno, known simply as Sabrina, was born in Italy in 1968. She was raised by her aunt in Genoa before moving to live with her grandparents in Sanremo. At the age of 15, she reunited with her mother and began to explore her passion for music, singing in the choir at her local Catholic church and forming a pop group with her friends at school.

Career

Sabrina's career took off in the 1980s after she won a beauty contest in Liguria, which led to her modeling career and a television debut on the Italian show Premiatissima in 1984. Her music career began in earnest in 1986 with the release of her debut single "Sexy Girl," which became a top 20 hit in Italy and marked her entry into the international music scene. Her first studio album, released in late 1987, featured the hit single "Boys (Summertime Love)," which topped charts in France and Switzerland and became a summer anthem across Europe. The song's provocative music video contributed to its popularity, showcasing Sabrina's striking image and performance style.

In 1988, she was awarded the "Best European Singer" at the Festivalbar event, solidifying her status as a pop icon. Sabrina continued to release successful singles, including "All of Me (Boy Oh Boy)," produced by the renowned Stock Aitken Waterman, further establishing her presence in the music industry. Her work has spanned various genres, including pop, Italo disco, and dance-pop, showcasing her versatility as an artist.
