Early Life

Sofia Lauren Daccarett Char, known professionally as Sofia Carson, was born on April 10, 1993, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She is the daughter of José F. Daccarett and Laura Char Carson, who emigrated from Barranquilla, Colombia. Sofia chose her stage name in honor of her American maternal grandmother, Lauraine Carson. She attended St. Hugh Catholic School and graduated from Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart in Miami. Her passion for the arts was evident early on, as she trained at In Motion Dance Studio and participated in the IMPAC Youth Ensemble program. Carson later pursued higher education at UCLA, majoring in communications with a minor in French.

Career

Carson's career took off when she appeared as a guest star on the Disney Channel series "Austin & Ally" in 2014. She gained widespread recognition for her role as Evie, the daughter of the Evil Queen, in Disney's "Descendants" (2015), a role she reprised in its sequels.
