Early Life

Solange Piaget Knowles was born on June 24, 1986, in Houston, Texas, to Tina and Mathew Knowles. She is the younger sister of global superstar Beyoncé Knowles. Growing up in a musical family, Solange was exposed to the arts from a young age, performing her first song at Six Flags AstroWorld at just five years old. She began writing songs at nine and pursued a career in music despite her parents' initial advice to wait. By 13, she was performing as a backup dancer for Destiny's Child, temporarily stepping in for Kelly Rowland during a tour.

Career

Solange's music career officially began when she signed with her father's label, Music World Entertainment. At 16, she released her debut album, "Solo Star" (2002), which showcased her R&B roots. Over the years, she evolved as an artist, gaining creative control over her work. Solange married Daniel Smith in 2004 at the age of 17, and they welcomed a son later that year. The couple divorced in 2007, after which she moved to various cities, including Brooklyn and New Orleans. In 2014, she married music video director Alan Ferguson, but they separated in 2019. Solange has been open about her relationships and personal struggles, including a widely publicized incident involving her brother-in-law Jay-Z in an elevator, which garnered significant media attention.
