Early Life

Sulli, born Choi Jin-ri on March 29, 1994, in Busan, South Korea, showed an early passion for the performing arts. At just ten years old, she moved to Seoul to pursue her dreams, attending the MTM Academy, where she honed her skills in singing, dancing, and acting. Her stage name, Sulli, was suggested by a reporter who felt her birth name was too Christian, and she interpreted it to symbolize "pear blossoms in the snow."

Career

Sulli began her career as a child actress, making her debut in the SBS drama "Ballad of Seodong" in 2005. She continued to take on various roles in television and film, including notable performances in "Vacation" (2006) and "Punch Lady" (2007). In 2009, she debuted as a member of the K-pop girl group f(x) with the single "La Cha Ta," quickly gaining popularity. Sulli also starred in the lead role of the drama "To the Beautiful You" in 2012, earning the New Star Award at the SBS Drama Awards for her performance.

Despite her success, Sulli faced challenges, including a hiatus from the entertainment industry and struggles with mental health issues, including panic disorder and social anxiety. She was open about her battles with depression, which she faced until her untimely passing in 2019.
