Early Life

Sunny, born Susan Soonkyu Lee on May 15, 1989, in Orange County, California, is a South Korean-American singer and entertainer. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her father being part of a college band, which inspired her to pursue a career in music. When she was an infant, her family moved to Kuwait, but they returned to South Korea after the Gulf War, settling in Jongno-gu, Seoul. Sunny attended several schools, including Seoul Cheongun Elementary School and Paiwha Girls' High School. Her journey in music began when she joined SM Entertainment as a trainee in 1998, where she honed her skills for five years.

Career

Sunny's career took off when she debuted as a member of the iconic girl group Girls' Generation in August 2007. The group quickly rose to fame, particularly with their hit single "Gee" in 2009, which solidified their status as one of South Korea's best-selling artists.
