Suzy

Early Life

Bae Su-ji, known mononymously as Suzy, was born on October 10, 1994, in Buk District, Gwangju, South Korea. She is the daughter of Bae Wan-young, a former coach of the Korean national youth taekwondo team, and Jeong Hyun-sook. Growing up with an elder sister and a younger brother, Suzy attended the School of Performing Arts Seoul, graduating in 2013. Before her debut, she worked as an online shopping model and was part of a street dancing crew, showcasing her dedication to becoming an idol.

Career

Suzy's career began when she auditioned for Mnet Superstar K in 2009, where she caught the attention of a scout from JYP Entertainment. She debuted as a member of the girl group Miss A in March 2010. Her popularity soared as she became a fixed host for MBC Show! Music Core and ventured into acting with her role in the hit drama Dream High in 2011. The success of the series led to her film debut in Architecture 101 in 2012, earning her the title of "Nation's First Love". Suzy continued to build her career with notable roles in dramas such as Gu Family Book (2013) and While You Were Sleeping (2017). In 2017, she launched her solo music career with the EP Yes? No?, further solidifying her status in the entertainment industry.

Philanthropy

Beyond her artistic endeavors, Suzy is known for her philanthropic efforts. She has donated significant amounts to support children with cancer and victims of disasters, including ₩50 million to the Sewol ferry disaster relief. Her charitable contributions have earned her recognition, including being acknowledged by President Moon Jae-in for her efforts.
