Taron Egerton

Early Life

Taron Egerton was born on November 10, 1989, in Birkenhead, England, to parents who were both Liverpool natives. His mother worked in social services, while his father ran a bed-and-breakfast. After his parents divorced when he was just two years old, Egerton moved with his mother to Anglesey, Wales, where he attended primary school. The family later relocated to Aberystwyth when he was 12, a move that left him feeling lonely as he lost touch with childhood friends. It was during this time that he discovered his passion for acting, which he began at the age of 15, partly as a way to socialize and make new friends. He later graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2012.

Career

Egerton's career took off shortly after his graduation. He made his stage debut in a production of "The Last of the Haussmans" at the National Theatre in London in 2012. His breakthrough role came in 2015 when he starred as Gary "Eggsy" Unwin in the action-comedy film "Kingsman: The Secret Service," which was a commercial success, grossing over $400 million. This role established him as a charismatic leading man in Hollywood. He continued to build on this success with notable performances in films such as "Eddie the Eagle," where he portrayed ski-jumper Eddie Edwards, and as the voice of Johnny, a gorilla, in the animated musical film "Sing." Egerton reprised his role in the sequel, "Kingsman: The Golden Circle," further solidifying his status in the film industry.

Personal Life

Despite his fame, Egerton remains grounded, describing himself as coming from a working-class background. He currently resides in West London and is known for his support of the LGBTQ+ community, although he identifies as straight. He has openly discussed his teenage struggles with his sexuality, expressing empathy for those who face similar challenges. Egerton's talent has not gone unnoticed, as he received a nomination for the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2016 and won a Golden Globe Award for his performance in "Rocketman," a biopic about Elton John, showcasing his musical abilities alongside his acting prowess.
