The Raconteurs

Formation

The Raconteurs, an American rock band from Detroit, Michigan, was formed in 2005 by friends Jack White and Brendan Benson. The duo's collaboration began in an attic during a hot summer, leading to the creation of their inspiring song "Steady, As She Goes." They soon expanded their lineup by adding Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler, both of whom were previously members of the band Greenhornes. Despite being labeled a supergroup due to their members' prior successes, the band emphasized their identity as a new collective of old friends rather than a temporary project.

Key Releases and Influence

The Raconteurs quickly gained recognition with their debut album, "Broken Boy Soldiers," which showcased their alternative rock sound. They followed up with their sophomore effort, "Consolers of the Lonely," and later released "Help Us Stranger." The band is also known in Australia as "The Saboteurs" due to a naming conflict with a local band. Their energetic performances at major music festivals across Europe, Asia, and North America have solidified their reputation in the rock scene.

Legacy

The Raconteurs have made a significant impact on the alternative rock genre, with their music earning them various nominations and awards, including Grammy Awards. Their unique blend of rock influences and collaborative spirit continues to resonate with fans, ensuring their place in the music landscape.
