Early Life

John Anthony Gillis, known professionally as Jack White, was born on July 9, 1975, in Detroit, Michigan. He is the youngest of ten children in a family with Polish and Scottish roots. Raised in Mexicantown, a predominantly Mexican and African-American community, White's upbringing was heavily influenced by his older siblings, who introduced him to music. His early experiences included serving as an altar boy and even meeting Pope John Paul II in 1987. White's musical journey began with his brothers' band, Catalyst, where he learned to play various instruments, setting the stage for his future career.

Career

White's professional music career took off at the age of 19 when he became the drummer for the Detroit band Goober & the Peas. After the band disbanded in 1996, he formed the iconic rock duo The White Stripes with Meg White, who he initially presented as his sister, although they were actually married until 2000. The duo gained fame in the early 2000s, becoming key figures in the indie and garage rock movements. Their distinctive style, characterized by a red, white, and black color scheme, and their raw sound, led to several successful albums, including "White Blood Cells" and "Elephant." After the band's split in 2011, White embarked on a successful solo career, releasing albums such as "Blunderbuss" and "Lazaretto," and founded Third Man Records, further solidifying his influence in the music industry.

He has been married three times, first to Meg White, then to model Karen Elson, with whom he eloped in Brazil.
