Tom DeLonge

Early Life

Thomas Matthew DeLonge was born on December 13, 1975, in Poway, California, to Constance and Thomas Lyon DeLonge. Growing up with a brother and sister, he was of German and Mexican descent. Initially, he received a trumpet as a Christmas gift at age 11 and had aspirations of becoming a firefighter. However, his passion shifted when he picked up the guitar at a church camp, leading to a lifelong dedication to music. DeLonge's early influences included punk bands like Stiff Little Fingers and the Descendents, which inspired him to dye his hair purple and practice guitar obsessively.

Music Career

DeLonge's musical journey began in earnest when he co-founded the iconic pop-punk band Blink-182 in 1992. His distinctive nasal singing voice became a hallmark of the band's sound, contributing to their success across three stints. After his first departure from Blink-182, he formed Angels & Airwaves in 2005, further showcasing his versatility as a musician. DeLonge's songwriting and performance style have been widely recognized, with his unique vocal delivery often celebrated and parodied in popular culture.

Personal Life

In 1996, DeLonge began a relationship with Jennifer Jenkins, whom he married in 2001. The couple had two children before their divorce in 2019. He later married Rose-Marie Berryman in May 2021.
