Early Life

Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson, known professionally as Tove Lo, was born on October 29, 1987, in Helsingborg, Scania County, Sweden. Growing up in a privileged environment, she was the daughter of iZettle co-founder Magnus Nilsson and psychologist Gunilla Nilsson Edholm. Her love for music blossomed early; she formed a girl band with friends and began writing songs at a young age. Tove's nickname, which later became her stage name, was inspired by a lynx she adored at a zoo, given to her by her godmother. Despite a seemingly idyllic childhood, she faced challenges, including struggles with bulimia and self-harm during her teenage years.

Career

Tove Lo's music career began in earnest in 2006 when she started writing songs and formed a math rock band called Tremblebee. After the band disbanded in 2009, she shifted her focus to pop music, honing her skills in songwriting and production. Her breakthrough came when she signed a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music and collaborated with renowned producers like Max Martin. Tove Lo's debut album, "Queen of the Clouds," was released in 2014, showcasing her unique blend of synth-pop and electropop. She gained international acclaim with hits like "Habits (Stay High)" and "Talking Body," establishing herself as a prominent figure in the pop music scene.
