Early Life

Trevor Noah was born on February 20, 1984, in Johannesburg, South Africa, during the apartheid era. His father, Robert, was Swiss-German, and his mother, Patricia Nombuyiselo Noah, was Xhosa. Due to the apartheid laws, their interracial relationship was illegal at the time of his birth, which Noah poignantly discusses in his autobiography, "Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood." Raised in the black township of Soweto, he grew up in a multicultural environment that reflected both his White and Black heritage. His mother played a significant role in his upbringing, instilling in him a strong sense of identity and resilience despite the challenges they faced.

Career

Noah's career began in 2002 with a small role in the South African soap opera "Isidingo." His mother survived a near-fatal incident involving her ex-husband, which Noah recounts with both humor and gravity in his work.
