Usha Mangeshkar, born in 1935, is an esteemed Indian singer known for her contributions to various regional music genres. She is the youngest of the legendary Mangeshkar sisters, following in the footsteps of Lata Mangeshkar, Meena Khadikar, and Asha Bhosle, and is also the elder sister to brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar. Her diverse musical journey spans across Marathi, Manipuri, Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Nepali, Bhojpuri, Gujarati, Odia, and Assamese songs, showcasing her versatility and talent.

Career Highlights

Mangeshkar's career took off when she gained recognition as a playback singer after performing devotional songs for the blockbuster film "Jai Santoshi Maa" in 1975. Her rendition of "Main to Aarti" earned her a nomination for the Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer award, marking a significant milestone in her career. She is also celebrated for her iconic songs such as "Mungda" and "Chupi Chupi Gori Kane" from the Odia film "Abhiman" (1977). Beyond singing, she showcased her creative talents by producing the musical drama "Phoolwanti" for Doordarshan.
