Early Life

Vasiliki Papathanasiou, known professionally as Vicky Leandros, was born on August 23, 1952, in Palaiokastritsa, Corfu, Greece. At a young age, she showcased her musical talent, which led her family to move to West Germany in 1958 after her parents' divorce. Living with her father, a musician and composer, she began to develop her career in music, singing in multiple languages and gaining recognition for her performances.

Career

Leandros achieved international fame in 1967 when she represented Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "L'amour est bleu," finishing in fourth place. This song became a worldwide hit, solidifying her status as a prominent artist. She won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1972 with "Après toi," further establishing her career. Throughout the 1970s, she hosted the TV show "Ich Bin," which was broadcast in 13 European countries and won the Bronze Rose of Montreux for its innovative presentation. Her discography includes numerous albums such as "Love Is Blue," "Le Temps des fleurs," and "A Taste of Vicky," showcasing her versatility in pop music.

Personal Life

Vicky Leandros was married to Greek entrepreneur Ivan Zissiadis from 1982 to 1986, with whom she has a son, Leandros. She later married Baron Enno von Ruffin in 1986, with whom she had two daughters before their separation in 2005. Throughout her life, Leandros has been recognized with various awards, including the Goldene Stimmgabel and the Commander of the Order of Merit of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, reflecting her significant contributions to music and culture.
