Early Life

Jeffery Lamar Williams II, known professionally as Young Thug, was born on August 16, 1991, in Atlanta, Georgia. He is the tenth of eleven children and grew up in the Jonesboro South projects, a neighborhood that has produced several notable rappers, including Waka Flocka Flame and Ludacris. Young Thug's early life was tumultuous; he was expelled from school in the sixth grade for violent behavior and spent four years in juvenile prison.

Career

Young Thug began his music career in 2010 with a guest appearance on TruRoyal's song "She Can Go". He gained significant attention after releasing his mixtape series "I Came from Nothing" in 2011 and 2012. In 2013, he signed with Gucci Mane's 1017 Records and released his debut mixtape with the label, "1017 Thug", which received critical acclaim and was included in several year-end lists. His unique vocal style and innovative approach to rap have made him a key figure in the evolution of modern hip-hop, particularly in the trap and mumble rap genres. Young Thug's discography includes notable albums such as "So Much Fun", "Punk", and "BUSINESS IS BUSINESS".

Personal Life

Young Thug is a father to six children from four different women, becoming a parent at the age of 17. He was engaged to Jerrika Karlae in 2015, but they broke up in December 2020. In 2021, he began dating singer-songwriter Mariah the Scientist, with whom he had a brief breakup before getting engaged again in late 2021. Young Thug has also faced health challenges, including a near-death experience due to liver and kidney failure in 2020. Despite his struggles, he remains active in philanthropy, participating in campaigns to fight poverty and donating concert proceeds to charitable causes.
