Early Life

Zain Javadd Malik, known professionally as Zayn, was born on January 12, 1993, in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. He is of mixed heritage, with a British Pakistani father, Yaser Malik, and a White British mother, Trisha, who converted to Islam upon marriage. Growing up in a working-class family, Zayn attended Lower Fields Primary School and Tong High School, where he developed a passion for performing arts. Influenced by his father's love for urban music, he began writing raps and performing at school events. Initially aspiring to become an English teacher, Zayn's life took a turn when he auditioned for The X Factor in 2010.

Career

Zayn's journey in music began when he auditioned for The X Factor at the age of 17. Although he was eliminated as a solo contestant, he was grouped with four other contestants to form the globally successful boy band One Direction. The group quickly rose to fame, becoming one of the best-selling boy bands of all time. In March 2015, Zayn left One Direction to pursue a solo career, signing with RCA Records.
