Álvaro Soler

Early Life

Álvaro Tauchert Soler was born in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Spain, to a German father and a Spanish-Belgian mother, which allowed him to become multilingual from a young age. At the age of 10, he moved to Japan with his family, where he lived until he was 17. During his time in Japan, he began taking piano lessons, laying the foundation for his future musical career.

Career

After returning to Barcelona, Soler formed the band Urban Lights in 2010 with his brother and friends, blending British pop, indie pop, and electronic music. The band gained local recognition, winning a university music contest and reaching the Final 8 on the Spanish talent show ¡Tú sí que vales! in 2013. However, in 2014, Soler decided to pursue a solo career, moving to Berlin to establish himself as a musical artist. His breakthrough came with the release of his single "El mismo sol" on April 24, 2015, which topped charts in Italy and Switzerland and was certified double platinum. This success led to his debut album, "Eterno agosto," released on June 23, 2015. Soler continued to build on his success with subsequent albums, including "Mar de colores" in 2018 and "Magia" in 2021, and he became a judge on the Italian version of X Factor in 2016.

Personal Life

Soler is a polyglot, fluent in several languages including Catalan, Spanish, German, English, Italian, French, and Japanese. He was previously in a five-year relationship with British-Spanish singer Sofia Ellar. On May 23, 2023, he married German model Melanie Kroll, and they welcomed a daughter in July 2024.
