Christian Lorenz

Early Life

Christian "Flake" Lorenz was born in Germany and began his musical journey at a young age. At just 16, he joined the punk band Feeling B in 1983, where he collaborated with notable musicians like Paul Landers. The band thrived in the underground punk scene of East Berlin, and during this time, Lorenz and Landers even sold handmade jackets on the black market to support themselves.

Career

After a decade with Feeling B, Lorenz transitioned to the iconic band Rammstein in 1994. Initially hesitant to join, he was convinced by his bandmates to contribute to their debut album, "Herzeleid". As the keyboardist and a primary composer, Lorenz played a crucial role in shaping Rammstein's unique sound, which blends Neue Deutsche Härte and industrial metal. His dynamic stage presence and musical contributions have made him a key figure in the band, known for their theatrical performances and provocative lyrics.

Personal Life

Outside of music, Lorenz has been married twice and has five children. He married artist Jenny Rosemeyer in 2008, who contributed to Rammstein's song "Roter Sand". An amateur painter and classic car enthusiast, he also runs a vintage car hire business. Despite facing personal challenges, including a house fire in 2011, Lorenz continues to thrive both personally and professionally. Known by his nicknames "Flake" and "Doktor", he has expressed critical views on organized religion and American culture, while also appreciating the relaxed attitude towards music in the U.S.
