Donald Edmond Wahlberg Jr., known as Donnie Wahlberg, was born in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, on August 17, 1969. He is the eighth of nine children in a family with a rich Irish-Catholic heritage. His mother, Alma Elaine, worked as a bank clerk and nurse's aide, while his father, Donald Edmond Wahlberg, was a teamster and delivery driver. The family faced challenges, including the divorce of his parents in 1982. Wahlberg's early life was marked by a passion for music, which led him to become the first member of the boy band New Kids on the Block at the age of 15.

Career

Wahlberg's career took off as a founding member of New Kids on the Block, a boy band created to be a "white counterpart" to New Edition.
