Early Life

Emmanuelle Grey Rossum was born on September 12, 1986, in New York City. Raised by her single mother, Cheryl Rossum, a corporate photographer, Emmy's early life was marked by her parents' separation before her birth. She is of mixed heritage, with her mother being of Russian Jewish descent and her father being Protestant of English and Dutch ancestry. Rossum identifies as Jewish, influenced by her mother's teachings on ethics and morals. Her musical journey began at a young age; at just seven years old, she joined the Metropolitan Opera Children's Chorus, where she performed in various operas alongside renowned artists like Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti.

Career

Rossum's career took off with her television debut in 1997 on the soap opera "As the World Turns."
