Early Life

Loreen Zineb Nora Talhaoui, known simply as Loreen, was born on October 16, 1983, in Åkersberga, Sweden, to Moroccan Berber parents. She later moved to Västerås, where she spent her formative years and considers her hometown. Growing up, Loreen developed a passion for music, which would eventually lead her to a successful career in the industry.

Career

Loreen first gained public attention in 2004 when she participated in the Swedish version of Idol, where she finished fourth overall. Following her stint on the show, she released her debut single "The Snake" in 2005 with the group Rob'n'Raz. After a brief hiatus from the spotlight, she returned to music in 2011 with the song "My Heart Is Refusing Me," which became a hit in Sweden. However, it was her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest that catapulted her to international fame. In 2012, she won the contest with her iconic song "Euphoria," making her a household name. Loreen made history again in 2023 by winning Eurovision for a second time with her song "Tattoo," becoming the second performer ever to achieve this feat.

Personal Life and Activism

Loreen has been open about her bisexuality, coming out publicly in 2017. She has also been active in political causes, notably meeting with human rights activists during the Eurovision Song Contest in Azerbaijan in 2012 and later serving as an ambassador for the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan. Her commitment to social issues reflects her belief in using her platform for advocacy, as she has spoken out on various human rights issues throughout her career. Loreen's personal life includes a past relationship with Idol winner Daniel Lindström, and she has been candid about her romantic life, revealing in 2021 that she has a boyfriend.
