O‐Zone

Formation

O-Zone, a Moldovan Eurodance pop group, was formed in 1998. Initially, it started as a duo consisting of Dan Bălan and Petru Jelihovschi. They released their first album, "Dar, Unde Ești..." in 1999. However, Jelihovschi left the group shortly after, not intending to pursue a music career. Bălan then held auditions to find new members, leading to the addition of Arsenie "Arsenium" Todiraș, who impressed Bălan with his rendition of Elvis Presley's "Love Me Tender." Shortly after, Radu Sîrbu joined, officially making O-Zone a trio in 1999.

Breakthrough

The group relocated to Bucharest, Romania, in 2002, where they quickly gained popularity. Their single "Despre Tine" topped the Romanian charts for three weeks in February 2003. However, it was their next hit, "Dragostea din tei," that catapulted them to international fame. The song became a massive success in Romania and later gained traction in Italy and other countries, becoming a global phenomenon. O-Zone's catchy tunes and energetic performances solidified their place in the Eurodance genre.

Disbandment

Despite their success, O-Zone disbanded in 2005 after a brief but impactful career. During their time together, they released several albums, including "DiscO-Zone" and "Best of What They Did Last Summer," which showcased their unique sound and contributed to the Eurodance movement. Although they parted ways, their music continues to resonate with fans around the world, particularly through their iconic hit, "Dragostea din tei."
