Early Life and Musical Beginnings

Paul Dedrick Gray, affectionately known as "the Pig," was born in Los Angeles, California, before moving to Des Moines, Iowa, where he discovered his passion for music. Initially a guitarist, Gray switched to bass guitar after relocating. His early musical endeavors included performing in various bands such as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Anal Blast, and Vexx, showcasing his versatility and commitment to the heavy metal scene.

Rise with Slipknot

Gray co-founded the iconic nu metal band Slipknot, where he served as the bassist and backing vocalist, designated as member #2. He was one of the three original members who remained with the band until his untimely death in 2010. Slipknot's unique sound, characterized by heavy metal, nu metal, and death metal influences, was significantly shaped by Gray's contributions. He also participated in various side projects, including filling in for Unida and collaborating with Drop Dead, Gorgeous, and Roadrunner United.
