Sugababes

Formation

Sugababes, a British pop girl group, was formed in 1998 by All Saints manager Ron Tom and Sarah Stennett. The original lineup consisted of Siobhán Donaghy, Mutya Buena, and Keisha Buchanan, who were initially signed as solo artists but decided to collaborate after performing together. Their name was originally "Sugababies" but was changed to Sugababes to present a more mature image when they signed with London Records.

Breakthrough

The group released their debut album, "One Touch," in 2000, which included the hit single "Overload," peaking at number 6 on the UK Singles Chart. Despite moderate success, the album did not meet sales expectations, leading to the group's drop from their label in 2001. Following the departure of Donaghy in 2001, who left to pursue a fashion career, Heidi Range joined the group. This new lineup saw the release of three multi-platinum albums: "Angels with Dirty Faces" (2002), "Three" (2003), and "Taller in More Ways" (2005), with the latter featuring the chart-topping single "Push the Button."

Later Years and Legacy

In 2005, Buena left the group and was replaced by Amelle Berrabah. The Sugababes continued to achieve success with their fifth studio album, "Change" (2007), which included the hit single "About You Now." The group underwent further lineup changes, with members coming and going, but the original trio reunited in 2012 and continued to perform together until 2019. Sugababes are known for their influence on the pop and R&B genres, and their innovative sound has left a lasting impact on the music industry.
