Tim Bergling, known professionally as Avicii, was born on September 8, 1989, in Stockholm, Sweden. He was raised in a creative environment, being the son of Klas Bergling, who managed an office supply business, and actress Anki Lidén. Tim had three siblings and began mixing music in his bedroom at the young age of eight. Inspired by his brother, he started producing music at 16, teaching himself to use FL Studio. His early work included remixes for artists like Little Boots and Robyn, and he adopted the stage name Avicii, which is derived from a Buddhist term meaning "the lowest level of hell".

In addition to his music career, Avicii was dedicated to philanthropy, founding the charity House for Hunger to combat global hunger and supporting various causes, including HIV/AIDS awareness. He was known for his private nature regarding relationships, having dated several women, including a significant relationship with model Tereza Kačerová at the time of his passing in 2018.
