Early Life

Jacques Bermon Webster II, known professionally as Travis Scott, was born on April 30, 1991, in Houston, Texas. He grew up in a challenging environment, living with his grandmother in the crime-ridden neighborhood of South Park until the age of six. This experience shaped his perspective on life, instilling in him a desire to escape his surroundings. After moving to Missouri City to live with his parents, Webster's musical influences began to take root, with his father being a soul musician and his grandfather a jazz composer. He graduated from Elkins High School at seventeen and briefly attended the University of Texas at San Antonio before dropping out to pursue music full-time.

Career

Travis Scott's music career began in earnest in 2008 when he formed a duo called The Graduates with his friend Chris Holloway. They released their first EP on Myspace, followed by two projects with another group, The Classmates. After moving to New York City and then Los Angeles, Scott faced numerous challenges, including financial struggles and the need to couch-surf. His persistence paid off when he caught the attention of T.I., leading to a record deal with Grand Hustle Records. Scott's debut mixtape, "Owl Pharaoh," released in 2013, showcased his unique sound, blending hip-hop with psychedelic elements. He has since released several acclaimed albums, including "Rodeo," "Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight," and "ASTROWORLD," solidifying his status as a leading figure in contemporary music.

Philanthropy

In addition to his musical achievements, Scott is committed to giving back to his community. He founded the Cactus Jack Foundation in 2020 to support Houston youth with educational expenses and creative projects. His philanthropic efforts include Project HEAL, which aims to address challenges faced by marginalized youth in Texas, demonstrating his dedication to making a positive impact beyond music.
