Early Life

Louis Cachet, better known as Varg Vikernes, was born on February 11, 1973, in Norway. He is a prominent figure in the black metal music scene, recognized for his unique sound and controversial views. Vikernes is known for his work as a musician, author, and game designer, and he has made a significant impact on the genre of black metal, particularly through his early albums released under the name Burzum from 1992 to 1996.

Career

Vikernes's music career began in the early 1990s, where he quickly rose to prominence in the Norwegian black metal scene. His first five records established him as one of the most influential musicians in this genre. However, his career was marred by legal troubles; in 1994, he was convicted of murder and arson, leading to a 21-year prison sentence, of which he served 15 years. Despite these challenges, Vikernes continued to develop his artistic vision, blending elements of dark ambient and black metal in his work.

Personal Life

After his release from prison, Vikernes settled in France with his wife, Marie Cachet, and their growing family. The couple married in 2007 and have since welcomed seven children together. Vikernes has openly discussed his personal beliefs, which include a mix of Odinism and traditional nationalism, and he has been described as a controversial figure due to his political views. He has also claimed to have high-functioning autism, similar to his wife, and has lived a lifestyle that avoids alcohol and recreational drugs. In his later years, he has focused on promoting a lifestyle of self-sufficiency and environmentalism, often expressing his disdain for modern society.
