Early Life

Park Ji-min, known mononymously as Jimin, was born on October 13, 1995, in Geumjeong District, Busan, South Korea. He hails from the Milyang Park clan and grew up in a supportive family with his mother, father, and younger brother. Jimin's early education included attending Hodong Elementary School and Yonsan Middle School, where he developed a passion for dance. He trained in contemporary dance at Busan High School of Arts, excelling in the modern dance department. His talent caught the attention of a teacher who encouraged him to pursue a career in entertainment, leading him to audition for Big Hit Entertainment in 2012. After successfully passing the auditions, he transferred to Korean Arts High School and graduated in 2014. Jimin later earned a degree in Broadcasting and Entertainment from Global Cyber University in 2020 and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration in Advertising and Media at Hanyang Cyber University.

Career

Jimin debuted as a member of the globally renowned boy band BTS on June 13, 2013, with the single "No More Dream" from their first album, 2 Cool 4 Skool. He quickly became known for his exceptional vocal and dance skills, contributing to the group's success with solo tracks like "Lie," "Serendipity," and "Filter," all of which charted on South Korea's Gaon Digital Chart. His artistry is characterized by delicate vocals and smooth, elegant dance movements, earning him praise as one of K-pop's standout performers. Jimin's dedication to his craft is evident in his perfectionism and his desire to explore diverse musical genres.

Legacy

Jimin's influence extends beyond music; he has been recognized as a role model for many aspiring idols in the K-pop industry. He topped Gallup Korea's annual idol survey for two consecutive years and was named the 17th best boy band member in history by The Guardian. His performances, including a traditional Korean fan dance at the 2018 Melon Music Awards, have helped promote Korean culture globally.
