Early Life

Kim Seok-jin, known professionally as Jin, was born on December 4, 1992, in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Growing up in a family with an elder brother, Jin initially aspired to be a journalist but shifted his focus to acting after being inspired by actor Kim Nam-gil in the historical drama "Queen Seondeok." He was scouted by SM Entertainment while walking down the street in 2007 but declined the offer. Instead, he pursued a degree in Film Studies at Konkuk University, graduating on February 22, 2017, and later enrolled in graduate school at Hanyang Cyber University.

Career

Jin's music career began when he was scouted by Big Hit Entertainment, where he initially auditioned as an actor before becoming a trainee. He debuted as a member of the globally renowned boy band BTS on June 13, 2013. As part of BTS, Jin has showcased his vocal talents through solo tracks such as "Awake," "Epiphany," and "Moon," all of which have charted on South Korea's Gaon Digital Chart. In 2019, he released his first independent song, "Tonight," and made his official solo debut in October 2022 with the single "The Astronaut."

Personal Life and Ventures

Outside of music, Jin has ventured into the culinary world by opening a Japanese-style restaurant in Seoul called Otsu Seiromushi in 2018. He is also set to launch a new liquor brand, Igin, in collaboration with chef Baek Jong-won, which will feature unique products made from local ingredients. Despite his busy schedule, Jin has faced health challenges, including a hand injury in March 2022 that required surgery, impacting his performances. As of 2018, he resides in Hannam-dong, Seoul, South Korea, and continues to be a prominent figure in the K-pop industry.
