Early Life

Kim Tae-hyung, known professionally as V, was born on December 30, 1995, in the Seo District of Daegu, South Korea. Growing up in Geochang County as the eldest of three siblings, V developed a passion for music early on, inspired by his father's support. He began taking saxophone lessons in middle school, which set him on the path to a musical career. After successfully auditioning for Big Hit Entertainment, he became a trainee and later graduated from Korean Arts High School in 2014. V continued his education at Global Cyber University, earning a degree in Broadcasting and Entertainment in 2020, and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration in Advertising and Media at Hanyang Cyber University.

Career

V debuted as a member of the globally renowned boy band BTS on June 13, 2013, with the track "No More Dream". Initially a "secret member," he quickly gained recognition for his unique vocal abilities and artistic contributions. V has co-written and composed several songs for BTS, including his solo tracks "Stigma," "Singularity," and "Inner Child," all of which charted on South Korea's Gaon Digital Chart. In 2019, he released his first independent song, "Scenery," and in 2023, he made his official solo debut with the EP "Layover," featuring singles like "Slow Dancing" and "Love Me Again."

Legacy

V's influence extends beyond music; he coined the phrase "I purple you," which has become a symbol of love and support between BTS and their fans. His popularity is evident, as he was ranked as the most-searched K-pop idol in South Korea and the most popular Korean celebrity in Japan for an impressive twenty-eight consecutive weeks. V's artistry, characterized by his baritone voice and emotional performances, has inspired many upcoming artists in the K-pop industry, solidifying his status as a role model and cultural icon.
